Fried rice is a typical dish of Asian people and it is also a popular dish of Vietnamese. It has a lot common with salad and fried spring roll because of their flexible ingredients as well as flexible and sophisticated recipes. There are numerous famous kinds of fried rice such as: fried rice served with beef and pickled vegies, house rice platter… or fried rice with chinese sweet sausage and egg fried rice.

Ingredients for vietnamese tomato rice:

  • 1 fresh tomato
  • 150g ketchup
  • 1 bowl of rice
  • 50g ham
  • 50g pea
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped shallot
  • Seasoning
  • Soy sauce
  • Finely chopped green onion
  • lettuce

Instructions for making Vietnamese tomato rice:

Add fresh slashed two diagonal lines tomato to scald in boiled water, tomato’s peel will slough off itself, which helps us peel off more easily. After peeling the tomatoes is dicing.

Dice ham. Wash peas clearly then blanch in the salt boiled water.

Put the wok on the stove, heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil. Add shallot to stir- fry, then add diced tomatoes and ham.

Cook with medium fire, add 1 tbsp of seasoning, use spoon to crush tomato until puree and mix with ham

Next, add rice into the pan.  Fry rice, add ketchup and 1 tbsp of soy sauce, stir quickly to make rice and red sauce mix together.

Step 3:

Add peas into the rice pan, stir about 3-5 minutes, taste again to fit your taste, sprinkle green onion and then turn off the stove.

Use another pan, swirling oil, beat egg to fry

Step 4:

Scoop the rice into a bowl, turn the rice bowl upside down the plate, arrange the omelette, water the tomato sauce, eat with chili and garlic soy sauce. That’s great!
