Mung bean cake (green bean cake) is one of the famous specialty of Hai Duong, a small province in the north of Vietnam. Every time people have the opportunity to visit Hai Duong, they correctly choose a few boxes of mung bean cakes to bring back as gifts. Of all the kinds of cake to taste with a cup of hot tea, mung bean cake is the best. The way to make the Hai Duong mung bean cake is not complicated. Ingredients for Vietnamese green bean cake recipe:

  • 500 gr whole green beans.
  • 150 ml of vegetable oil.
  • 100 gr of white sugar.
  • Molds for green bean cake.
  • A little salt
  • A little vanilla
  •  Water

Instructions for making mung bean cake recipe:

Step 1:

In the first step, put the green beans in warm water for about 15 minutes, and clean their pods. You should do this stage carefully to make a soft green bean cake later.

Then, pour green beans into an electric rice cooker, and add water. The level of water should be a little more than cooking rice. Cook until beans are tender.
