Fish cake is a dish that has existed for a long time, many people love it thanks to its varieties. However, nobody knows exactly its origin, it is known as a kind of rolls and made from an edible fish. Ingredients are very common such as fish, minced meat, green onions and dill. It sounds simple, but its recipe is not simple.
Compared to fish cake in overseas, Vietnamese fish cake is a special dish with a round and flat shape. Then, it is fried and sliced. This creates an eye-catching and tasty dish. You can enjoy this dish with different kinds of food like banh mi, rice noodles and so on.

Ingredients for Cha ca recipe:
- 1kg of fresh mackerel
- 1 bunch of green onions
- 1 bunch of dill
- 200gr ground meat
- 2 dried onions
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 spoon of fish sauce
- Seasoning, pepper, MSG
- Cooking oil
How to make Vietnamese fish cake:
Mackerel after being cleaned, use a knife to cut the fish in two pieces vertically, spleen the middle bone of the fish and then scrape the fish meat into a bowl. You can make use of the fish bones to make broth to make soup or porridge.
Next, you add the ground meat to the fish, add a little fish sauce, pepper, seasoning, sugar and mix well. Then marinate the mixture for 15 minutes.
Scallions + dill are washed and drained then chopped. Chop shallots.
Put the marinated fish in the blender, add the dried onions, 2 tablespoons of cooking oil, mince the mixture, then add green onions and continue to mince, then finish.
Use a spoon to scoop 1 spoon of minced fish and make it become a circle, put in the steaming tray. Otherwise, you can add all the ingredients into the mold to make a big piece of fish cake. Steam it then finish and make it cool.
Add cooking oil into the pan to boil, then fry fish cakes until both sides are golden.
