Banana is a popular fruit with Vietnamese people. In Vietnam, banana is an ingredient for making unique and tasty dishes. Beside banana ice cream, banana juice, and banana cake; banana sweet dessert is the most favorite food of Vietnamese teenagers.
Banana sweet dessert is well-known because of not only its simple and common ingredients but also special sweetness and fragrance of the combination of banana and coconut milk. For many long times, banana sweet soup’s flavor is changed diversely to enrich Vietnamese cuisine.
When cooking banana sweet dessert, people usually combine some ingredients such as sweet potato, mung bean… but the most popular recipe is the combination of banana, coconut milk and tapioca pearls. The following simple process helps you practice at home.
Ingredients for making che chuoi recipe
- 5 bananas
- 50g tapioca pearls
- 100g sugar
- 200ml coconut milk
- 1 tsp of salt
- Roasted peanut
- Pandan leaves
Steps to make Che chuoi recipe:
Step 1: Ingredients preparation
Pick ripe bananas with yellow-ripened color and green veins to keep banana still viscous and not too mashed after processing
Peel and put the bananas in salt water, soak in it for 5 minutes to reduce acrid taste.
Then drain the bananas, cut them into 4 diagonal pieces.
Step 2: Boil tapioca pearls
Put tapioca pearls in a bowl, soak it in hot water for 1 hour until enlarged and tender, then clean it with water to remove its sour flavor.
Boil the water and add tapioca pearls
When tapioca pearls turn into translucent and floats, turn off the cooker and take it out.
Step 3: Cook sweet dessert
Pour 500ml water and pandan leaves and boil them.
Next, add bananas, cook over high heat, until boil, cook over low heat, continue cooking for 7 minutes to make bananas cooked.
Take pandan leaves out; add sugar, tapioca pearls and a little salt.
When water boils again, add coconut milk and stir the mixture, continue cooking until it boils and turn off the cooker.
Ladle out banana sweet dessert, sprinkle some roasted peanuts and enjoy it! This dessert is still delicious when it gets cold.
